Magento Rescue

Do you have serious concerns for the launch of a new website? Is your current development agency not delivering what was agreed? We’re here to help.

What we can do

We’ve helped clients who have suffered a breakdown in the working relationship with their former agencies. We've helped clients who had initially outsourced development offshore, only to later struggle with the additional challenges this often entails. We’ve helped clients who's projects were anywhere from 10% to 99% complete.

Whatever situation you find yourself in now, we’re uniquely setup to onboard any project, no matter it's state, in a timely and efficient manner.

Our development workflow enables us to quickly recover as much of the completed work as possible, before we go about completing the remainder. All of our developers are Magento certified, we strive to work with a methodical approach, and adhere to industry standard best practice.

If you’re considering switching agency, our multi step approach will tend to follow a structure similar to this:

Consultation

Magento builds aren’t quick, with most developments taking a minimum of 3 months. Getting to grips with the current state of your development can take time, but it’s the most important step in the whole process.

At this stage, we’ll gather as much information as possible about the state of the project; namely what was expected, what has been delivered and what is outstanding. The process normally involves our solution specialists evaluating the situation through conference calls and emails.

Consultation

Technical Code & Data Audit

Once we’ve established what’s outstanding and what’s problematic, we pass the project to our experienced, qualified developers. They'll then evaluate the current state of the code used and pinpoint any issues that may occur during the rest of the development process.

The audit will be available for you to view, and normally takes about a day to provide a top level overview of the development to date.

Findings from the audit will influence the specification. For example, if we find that your previous development partners have opted for a 3rd party extension which contains code that has an adverse effect on performance, we may recommend replacing with an alternative or writing our own that specific to your requirements.

Technical Code & Data Audit

Code Rebase

When compared to it's predecessor, Magento 2 adds several layers of technical complexity which in turn alters the best practices for development. Unfortunately, many agencies and developers continue to work using familiar techniques, instead of investing the additional time required to adapt. Whilst their reasons for doing so may not be disingenuous, this poor implementation will lead to reccuring problems and ultimately greater ongoing maintenance costs.

The good news is with early intervention we can get you back on the straight and narrow with a Code Rebase. During this process, if necessary (there’s a chance your previous partner conformed to recommended best practice), we’ll take all of the custom code from your build and strip it apart into manageable sections that ensures for quick delivery and fast future upgrades

Deployment Strategy

Deployment is the process of making site changes and updates available to users. Having a tight, solid deployment strategy is essential to minimise both downtime and unidentified errors. Our multi step process allows us to test and verify our work ahead of time. We utilises “Continuous Integration” and “Unit Testing”, that allows changes to be built by a “worker” server first, before being quickly deployed to your live server.

Deployment Strategy

Issue collation

Using our issue management tool, we’ll set up a full list of tasks, complete with milestones, time estimates, developer assignment and tags for quick identification.

As a client, you’ll have full access to these tasks, along with being able to add new ones at any time. This allows for a full visibility of your project.

Issue collation

Rescue Specification

Having completed a full round of requirements, we’ll then collate of this detail into a concise specification document, so it’s clear to both parties what needs to be completed as part of the initial rescue phase.

Rescue Specification

Development Implementation

Once the specification is agreed, we’ll begin getting the changes in to place. Our qualified developers will be assigned the appropriate tasks based upon their specific skill sets, and you’ll see progress via ticket updates, or by viewing the tickets in the included Kanban boards from within the ticketing system.

Development Implementation

Testing

Testing is really an ongoing process throughout all of the development stages, we continuously run browser / device testing as well as automated code testing. Nevertheless, your site will always need a round of testing at the closing stages of the development to highlight any issues that may have been overlooked, and to test integrations that may not have been possible at an earlier time.

Testing

Ongoing Support

Once the rescue project is complete, for continuous improvement and new features, we’ll then asses what retainer support package would suit your business the best. For formation on this see Magento Support & Maintenance
